Indian Banks Opting For Linux Operating System, Rather than Convincing Microsoft For Extended Windows XP Support

As we stated in our past article about Windows XP deadline , Microsoft is going to rollback its support from their Operating System after April 8th 2014, and after this date mark mostly all banks and their ATM Machines have to suffer through various attacks and hacking attempts as they are relying upon Windows XP for day to day transactions and their proceedings. Microsoft will not going to provide updates and security patches to this operating system making it damn vulnerable.

Some of the banks taking decisions to extend the support to the operating system while Indian Banks going to opt for Linux Distribution named BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions) in near future when the microsoft has rolled over support for XP.

The reason behind this switching from XP to BOSS (Open Source OS) is that huge cost of the proprietary operating system XP, can be eliminated which can be used as savings from being wasted.
According to BOSS's Developer, "Boss is not vulnerable to the hacking attempts and virus attacks as of Windows XP. There are about 115,000 ATM Machines operating in India, but XP's end is not bank's end as they're prepared to switch on to BOSS.
IBA Said --
"They've neither branches nor cash vending machines will be shut down once Microsoft stops support for the system from April 8. “Banks are definitely well-prepared and the industry is seized of the matter. I am very sure that you will not see a problem where ATMs or bank counters are shut because of this,” said the industry lobby’s chief executive MV Tanksale at an event in Mumbai. “Only the old ATMs may face some problem as all the newer machines are running on newer platforms,” he added later.

Some questions arose from this step- "Is there any problem to normal users regarding the issue that Windows consists of GUI (Graphical User Interface) and Linux powers Command Line Interface?"
"Will the users easily switch to linux from windows?" etc. etc.
